Windy City Chicago Is A Dream Wedding Photography Location For This Dayton Wedding Photographer

Wedding Photographer Who Wants To Photograph Weddings In Chicago

Overview:

Chicago has been one of my favorite cities to photograph since my first visit 17 years ago. Over the years, I photographed Chicago with a film point and shoot digital camera, and most recently, DSLR cameras. No matter what I'm using, I try to find interesting angles and objects to photograph. Anyone who is a fan of architecture, public transit, or big cities will love photographing the Windy City. As a wedding and engagement photographer, I walk around the city looking for picturesque locations where I've love to photograph brides and grooms. Some of the images below are examples from a Summer 2018 trip to scout locations around Chicago's Magnificent Mile and Chicago River.

Hotel:

Conrad Hotel Chicago, a Hilton hotel, is an excellent place to stay in downtown Chicago, Illinois. I spend a great deal of time scouting locations and hotels to ensure I get a high-quality hotel in a good location. The Conrad sits 1/2 block from Michigan Avenue in the heart of the Magnificent Mile / River North area of Chicago. The location is perfect, and the hotel was top-notch! This is a hip and classy hotel that has a roof-top bar, excellent service, and tech-friendly rooms. The design of the entire hotel was edgy, and it would be an amazing backdrop for bridal portraits!

Things To Do:

Downtown Chicago has an endless supply of things to do while photographing weddings and engagements. If there is a special interest that the bride and groom has, Chicago can accommodate it! Unique photography venues could be concert halls, parks, hotels, museums, abandoned buildings, trains, and more. For a Dayton and Cincinnati wedding photographer like me, Chicago is a dream wedding photography destination. I hope to begin photographing amazing weddings in downtown Chicago very soon. I would also love to do a multi-hour engagement session in downtown Chicago.

Capturing Great Wedding And Engagement Photos In Chicago:

Because Chicago is a large city with some of the largest skyscrapers in the United States, the light is constantly changing. The sun moves behind buildings and emerges from behind other buildings. Spending a day or two scouting locations and watching where shadows fall will be beneficial to any bridal portrait or engagement session. Additionally, be aware that it is a city with millions of people in it, so there can potentially be people in all of your shots. Planning ahead will help ensure the most beautiful Chicago-themed wedding and engagement photos!

Within two square miles of the Michigan Avenue and Chicago River intersection, brides, grooms, and engaged couples can find endless opportunities for unique Chicago wedding photo ideas. Hiring a Dayton and Cincinnati wedding and engagement photographer may seem strange, but even with a travel fee and hotel reservation, I am considerably less expensive than comparable Chicago wedding and engagement photographers. Consider hiring Kevin Lush Photography to photograph your downtown Chicago wedding and engagement!

Venue Photos Of Magnolia Estate Wedding And Reception Photos Dayton Miamisburg Ohio

Fantastic Indoor And Outdoor Wedding And Reception Venue In Dayton

Magnolia Estate in Miamisburg, Ohio is a beautiful outdoor wedding venue that offers indoor reception space. On a hot Saturday in September 2018, I photographed my first Magnolia Estate wedding. The bride and groom were spectacular and provided a great deal of time for bridal portraits. They were up for all of my suggestions including a few minutes for sunset bridal portraits. Although it was very hot, the bridal suite, groom's room, and reception hall are all air-conditioned. I highly recommend this Dayton wedding and reception venue for weddings with 100 or so guests.

Upon arriving at Magnolia Estate, just 8 minutes from Interstate 75, I was pleased with the way the property looked. There is a private residence which houses the groom's room (basement of the house). Once past the house, there is a large parking lot with plenty of room for guests, vendors, and more. The main building appears to be a collection of three space. The indoor space nearest the parking lot is a large bridal suite with air conditioning. Walking through the door on the south side of the suite is the restrooms and small room for the bartenders. This room has a garage door that opens up to the second room which is open air on two sides and has the reception hall on the third side. I believe this area has garage doors for inclement weather. The third room is a beautiful, air-conditioned reception hall with large windows overlooking the outdoor wedding area and gazebo.

Gauge, a DJ from Indianapolis' DJ Connection did a fantastic job. He showed up early for the outdoor wedding and was able to mic the bride, groom, and officiant. When I photograph a wedding, I always hope the DJ is able to amplify the ceremony. Generally, very few people can hear a wedding ceremony, so when I experience a DJ who goes the extra mile, I like to give him props. Gauge did a great job keeping the reception moving, although he didn't have a great deal of leeway due to a pre-determined list of songs from the awesome bride and groom.

Post Wedding Review Update: “We could not be happier! Kevin has excellent and timely communication, he's punctual, friendly, and talented! He did our engagement session and our wedding day and both produced fantastic results. He's fun to be around and makes the photo sessions fun too. I was amazed at the amount of photos received from our wedding day and we received them before the honeymoon was over! Just fantastic. We would highly recommend!” - Christie M.
